perfetto italia

Oh my God. Carcioffo’s and artichokes.

There are so many words I could use to describe this trip, but something along one of the most amazing holidays I have EVER had should do.

What was envisioned as a sex safari turned out to be surprisingly so much more. I am walking on air at the moment.

Wow.

Italy was nice too.

I was talking about with whom I went to Italy with of course. Something we’d been planning for some time, and it exceeded any expectations tenfold.

I had one of those teary-eyed moments whilst getting onto the plane yesterday – one of those cheesy moments you see in Hollywood Blockbusters basically – wiping tears away with a soggy boarding pass.

Absolutely mindblowing.

Six days of pure bliss – every second of every day. We toured the Vatican, went for meals in little cobbled street cafes, lots of overlooking views of the city, devouring bruschetta drizzled in olive oil, taking trains to random little towns where people hung their washing out of their windows.

Fiat 500s (the old one’s) everywhere, wine in open courtyards, emotive people, lots of adventures. Rome is more gorgeous than I even remembered it.

As my partner in crime said: Romance on a stick.

The Italians we chatted to were so full of life and so animated; proper characters they are. One morning we head to a little place for an espresso after waking up, and the waiter sees us sitting there all dreamily slumped over our chairs and reckons: ‘Hey-a! HEY-a! Wake-a uppa, WAKE. A UPPA. CHOP-A CHOP-A NOW. Guys-a, buongiorno. What-a do you a-want?’

Such a beautiful language to listen to too. They exaggerate everything – the words to the moments - the whole Italy experience for me was almost intoxicating. Saturated with everything that makes a human head spin in happiness.

Basically. Basically. I was in heaven. Italy was fabulous, end of. Perfect even.

I’ll be staying with him in two weeks in the UK, which is gratifying. For now, its taking each day as it comes.

Ja, I have a helluva lot more time these days, so I am trying to improve the tatters of my writing ability by getting back into blogging.

I'm good good. Unemployed in Melbourne, which has its charm.

But enough about me, go back to "mushy'ing"!

Ah wow all these old faces around the place - such a pleasant surprise - hello little benny! :)

Champers - hope the job situ in Oz gets sorted, and hope you're having fun otherwise? Glad you're back on the writing - thought you'd clocked out forever!

Benny - thanks darling! May be shortlived, but am smiling too, nonetheless. It's been a LONG time since I felt this fuzzy - a special kind of fuzzy - years in fact.

Thanks! This unemployed thing does actually have its liberations! Although, the random purchase of wine is not one of them... thanks to no income! But it creates a good incentive to get hired.
It is all good fun, great city, new adventure, stress finally disappearing! I'll blog more about it.

Ja, I've been around for awhile, but I def. haven't been focused or too chuffed with my writing posts. Lets hope it all on the up from here!

Why are we back on me?
Back to you... How's the glow treating you? Did you speak any Italian when you were there or just swoon?

Sigh.......I can't stop sighing and I've turned green with envy. You have just lived my dream for 6 days and I want to leave today for Rome and never, ever come back. The lurvely description made me whimper with desire. p.s. screw BA Rome just won. My friends can go to BA without me.

Ruby - teehee :)

Champers - good luck with it all! Sheesh, are you there forever? As in, are you planning to put shrimps on the barbie for a good long time?

Charm - Rome is amazing, but I'm telling you you'll LOVE BA. Also just reeks of all that Mediterranean-like charm all over the show. You're going to have an absolute blast ;)

D'oh!
Anyway...

Joys of time zones... delayed responses... The plan is to be Oz-based for four years & then head onwards... I'm leaning for an equatorial island after all cold rain, but it might be back to SA.

As for the Aussie's "barbies". WTF!!!??? These things need a serious "Braai" influence! They fry up some sausages & stick a sausage between a single slice of sliced bread. You're lucky if fried onions come with that! Give us four years to change it...
