the light

...is gone.

In a snap, 4pm, sun started setting. And by the time I got home, it was midnight inky black.

I am handling this very very badly. My hands started sweating, I was peering out the window wondering whether this lack of natural sunshine for the next 4 months will turn me blue.

Feverishly went home, made pot noodle, put it on toast, watched Facejacker and went to bed what felt like 3 in the morning.

If my body clock wasn't fucked up before, it certainly is now.

I think I might go out and buy some night vision goggles. You know, to treat myself. I'll be walking home and to work in the dark from now on; might as well do it in style.

I want my Mum.

Good thing she's coming to visit me in 2 weeks with my eccentric Canadian aunt in tow.
I'm so goddamn excited I could punch the air. With my fist.

I knoooooow I have been suffering from SAD since about the beginning of this month. At least it has been warm, two years ago it was snowing in October. Did you get a SAD lamp? They are so flipping expensive I can't afford one.

po- have seriouuuuuusly started to look at SAD lamps. Wanna go halvies? How much we talking for one?

I even chatted to my manager about installing one next to my desk. It's not cold yet as you say, but it sure is dark....

Oh Peas I'm sad for you - that sounds so depressing! I hate winter in Cape Town because it gets dark so early and that's only at about 6.00 p.m and I hate that its still dark at 7.45 a.m. I'd be totally suicidal if it was black as midnight at teatime. I am pretty sure I would have to eat copious amounts of ice cream, chocolate and chips (sort of all day kiddy party) just to make it through one week let alone a whole winter. Buy the lamp!!!!

God. I would slit my wrists. Good luck.

Well my Dutch friend told me they cost £400!! But a quick google shows them to be £40 at Argos so maybe I can afford one after all. She lied to me.

Charm - oh man. I know. I won't forget the Joburg winters for a while either. Winter in general=dogsballs.

Now just to find a way to cope with the darkness.

(PS: Sun's starting to go down already....:(

Spear - oh my god, that makes me want to slit my wrists as a default of you saying you want to slit yours. Fuckkkk@

po - *phew! You know what that means? We can get one for our office/desk AND our bedrooms. SCORE!

You know, Peas, I have, as Art Jeweller, been following your exodus to England with avid interest.( Ok, my wife and I follow your blog compulsively...I admit it..:)
Reason is because we leave St Maarten (in the Caribbean) next year and we resettle in either the Netherlands or Germany.
And the winters worry me.
What I think is to get some of the new compact flourescent lights (150 watts output = 42 watts of useage) and replace anything in your environment that ain't that.
Initial cost is a bit more expensive than a normal light, but they last forever.
Like, make your own BRIGHT light.
As your do on your blog.....
