harajuku girls

One of my top things I HAD to see in Tokyo were the Harajuku Girls. The area where people dress completely fucked up, in such a way that's branded for this area of Tokyo only.

It's wonderful. It's so ridiculously over-the-top, so creative, so very unique, you'll never see such get ups in any other part of the world.

You can sit on a street in Tokyo's Harajuku for days and days on end, watching with sheer bewonderment at the things that walk past. Pigtails, frilly socks, knee highs, tons of lace, layers, colours and leather.

It's amaaaaaaaazing.

If there's one thing I can be absolutely certain of, it's that if I lived in Tokyo, I'd be a goddamn Harajuku Girl. Gimme some of that. Give me three days and I'd be all over that shit.

I had to dig really deep. Deep into my reserves of steel not to go completely mental and buy everything I saw. "I live in London this won't fly there I live in London this won't fly there," was how I more or less kept my animalistic enthusiasm at bay.

Couldn't resist the socks though. Bought 4 pairs. What the fuck will I do with them, I don't know, but I wore them in Tokyo. Much to the Brit's embarrassment. (He's marrying me because....)

In my past life, I was one of these people. It took resilience, let me tell you. Not to buy anything beyond the socks.

 I PWNED the knee highs.

What?

That was the conservative stuff. Some outfits are more crazy than others.
Loosely, it works in four stages.
1) 'Quirky'
2) 'Woah...'
3) 'What-In-Christ's-Name-Is-That;' and finally,
4) 'Is That A Guy Or Is That A Girl?'

Dude.
Dude.
Dude.
Gimme gimme. (Dude.)
Dude. (Are you a dude?) Funky PJ...thingies!

Dude. I want to be a Harajuku Girl.

Holy Peas-on-harajuku! Gotta visit Nippon-land and take in them sights!

You should totally start wearing that stuff in High Street and kick-start the fad. Go on
