madame tussauds

One thing that never happens when you live in one of the world's most touristic cities is actual tourist stuff.

Most Londoners you speak to wouldn't take the London Eye or do an open bus tour unless they have visitors in town.

Well, since I was tiny, I have always wanted to go to Madame Tussauds. The whole concept of celebrities moulded from wax is an eccentric sort of exhibition in itself. Three and a half years I've lived here and finally we just went.

Well, it's packed. You go in allocated timeslots. It's a frenzy in there. It feels like you're in a hall with millions of fans, bun-fighting to get close to what feels like real celebrities. Celebrity culture and people's obsessions with movie stars, for example, is kind of fascinating to watch.

We had a gas.

Herewith the pics of the ones I thought were particularly well done:
Tutes was alongside other big world leaders like Obama and...
Two faves below. JFK was good, Maggie could've been a leetle bit better. But that's maybe because I was genuinely the most excited person in the world to have a picture with her.
This was interesting. Winston and Hitler. Given the UK is so PC (infuuuriatingly so at times), I was actually quite surprised to see him there...
 Madge
Beyonce looked better than my blurred phone photo depicts
Adele was brilliant. They captured her and her body shape sowell.
 Riri
I liked Gaga, but I thought they could've done more here. Meat dress just one option...
 Standard.
One of the more popular displays. There was a queue to have photos done on stage with this lot, as well as the One Direction boys. It was mayhem.
 Daley diving from the ceiling
Me and Jessica Ennis, my personal favourite from last year's Olympics.
Dude. How real does Boris Becker look? Check out the facial hair and ginger disposition.
Helen Mirren was also brilliantly done, with minute details in her face.
Her hand was freakily real too. Check out the sun spots.
The statues are created real to life - so Tom Cruise was a short model.

Found your site while googling for wax images and I ended up staying for a while. Interesting site!

Anyway, if you want to see really good photographs of Madame Tussauds figures check this site.
