body service

I don't usually visit the doctor. Unless I'm dying, or my arm has been cut off, or for a check up because cervical and breast cancer run in my family.

Last night, during a bubble bath, I found an extraordinarily large lump in my right breast.
Panic stations. I'm going to the doctor this afternoon.

I can't afford to have cancer right now. What with car services and new cell phones needed in the same month. More poignantly, I refuse to panic. It could be a number of things. Breast tissue, a benign cyst, an inflamed duct. What worries me is that it's not that time of the month, where lumpy breasts are symptomatic.

I wait.

Don't wait too long. It's easier to get rid of if you catch it early. My mom had that.

Hey Peas. Don't stress to much, and make sure you go see a specialist if you feel at all nervous about what a GP says. Never good with big words but I think the specialist for 'the c word' is an Oncologist. rooting for you

Godsgimp - thanks hon. I'll go today and probably get a mommogram. Then depending on the results, I'll take it from there. Let's hope I don't have to see an oncologist. Impressed that you know that by the way, I don't reckon most guys would.

Good luck Peas.

Very frightening.

Think happy thoughts while you wait - like "Second place SA blogger!"

Well done on that.

right, the good thing is that you check regularly so you've obviously caught this early... whatever it is. Don't panic until you know what you're dealing with - like you say there are many other things it could be. I'll keep everything crossed for you x

Thanks sweetpea. My mum just told me that it could also be a fibroid, which is something quite common apparently. I hope so!

Actually, I had exactly that about two years ago. Have you been drinking a lot of coffee lately? Apparently that can sometimes also affect things.

Jam - I've heard coffee causes lumps. I drink one to two cups a day. My doctor told me before that I have 'mini lunps.' But this one feels different for some reason, and it's much larger than the others.
I'm off to the doc now, will be in touch.

PS: Is that a lot of coffee btw? I wouldn't have thought so, but who knows.

Godsgimp - I'm sorry about your dad. I'm glad he's ok. x

The waiting is enough to put anyone over the edge. I hope the service turns out to be routine. I know it seems a bit fatuous to drop in now and say "Ooh, nice blog", but - well - I do like what you've done with the place.
