shot vern

Had a really cool day yesterday. While America went about suddenly discovering my Vernon Koekemoer post, my day was filled with cappuccino and good people.

I met up with a really great guy for coffee. He joined me while I went about my cafe-office business. He also told me that the Thrupps chemist in Illovo – Sunray Pharmacy– was Daisy de Melker's shop of choice when it came to buying poison to knock off her husbands one by one. Husbanks, should we say.
Sunray is such an arb pharmacy. Yet, they unwittingly helped one of South Africa's most hectic and notorious female serial killers get her strychnine, prescription-free.

Back in the early 1900's. Arb, but hilarious.

Then I realised America had found Vernon, and thanks to him (and reddit.com), I got over 25 000 unique hits on my blog yesterday: (Someone said my blog and Vernon were on SkyNews yesterday, but I didn't see that. Seriously? I believe the Vernon part, not my blog part.)

God I love the Internet.

It could be the most random thing, and the Internet can mushroom anything into a monumental topic. People can comment on it, they can choose not to comment on it, they can interact in their own way, they can be voyeurs on the side, you can discover anything.

The power and double-edged sword effect of the Internet – because it is a double edged-sword in its various ways – is still possibly the most amazing thing Man ever invented. Ever. For it's power and reach and endlessness alone. At least I think so.

Vern, buddy – yesterday was when I wished I had big ads on my blog. That would've been a really nice lottery win, and all just by accident.
Thanks big guy, I owe you a klippies and coke.

I'm not dating at the moment, but I'll spot you a Steers burger if you're ever in my area.

Peas, I promise you and Vernon were on Skynews yesterday, it was at about 7.45pm UK time, they were doing a story on what was dominating the internet. Can't find the story on the their website but why don't you send them an email?

Sky news! Bluddy nice and well done!

My numbers just spiked by a humble 40, but for me it's a big thing. Usually it's when I post something about condoms and guys in India find my blog in their searchs, but it doesn't seem to be that this time...maybe it's cause I told a bunch of commentators on one blog I found them to be ignorant racists. Good Friday morning times!

[Hello American readers!]

Hi Champs - Yeah I thought yesterday before I checked the stats: "I wrote about a strap-on. Surely 26 000 people wouldn't all be interested in that." It's not like the readership around here are a bunch of nuns, let's face it.

But yeah, an interesting dynamic - and Vernon is more of a ledg than he's been before thanks to the Web.

ha ha ha! I love it! well done Peas and Vern. I bet Vern would never have guessed, the day he rocked up at the H20 party that he would end up on SkyNews :) he he.
And so true, the internet is amazing. It keeps me from going mental at work every day!
