ballbags on bread

I’m going to keep this short and as unmushy as possible. Quite a challenge, as you can probably decipher from the fact that this blog is called Mushy Peas On Toast.

I was thinking of changing it to Testicles On Toast, or Ballbag On Toast, had a nice ring to it. But that’s neither here nor there.

I can’t believe how things have started to turn in line of my dreams at the moment. I don’t want to jinx anything, so I’ve tried to keep pretty vague about it all thus far.

But if all processes go to plan, I should be in London soon.
I’ll be transferring with my company, to work in a new role in our office there.

I’ve been celebrating aptly, before you ask.

An amazing role in a new department, where I'll be relocating to work in the European hub.

Fuck me, I can hardly hold it together, I’m on fire it’s so exciting.

There is a ton of shit I need to organise before I fly out of South Africa on a one way flight.
Including processing my visa and getting a bank account.

Both dictating to Satan sized amounts of paperwork. Selling my car. My furniture. Shipping stuff over. Finding a flatmate. Buying 5000 umbrellas. Closing accounts. Getting a National Insurance number. The list is ad infinitum.

I have sheafs of documents, ever increasing for Lloyds TSB and the British Consulate respectively.

But just as importantly, and leading up to my crescendo here, is the fact that I have found someone so awesome, it blows my mind.

Never in my life did I expect this to happen or even look for it. Especially in a long-distance medium. So far we’ve defied the odds rather well, and he’s fantastic.

We’ve done Mexico, Meribel, Paris, Rome, London, Ireland and a bit of South Africa together – only short intense bursts across a year.

And even then, it’s been over a year since we first met.

All the mushy details aside, my Brit has managed to defeat some serious barriers.
Hemispherically and psychologically-speaking.

We were both in tears again when he had to take the Eurostar, and I had to take a plane. It’s torture, and it gets very hard being apart from him now. But we’ve managed this far, and each time we see each other it exceeds any expectations I have.

I’m so excited for what the future holds, our plans, and this next chapter of my life.

It's so cool how everything is falling into place all at once, all the best for the big move! Wow already a year since you met him!

(Saw you in the August 2009 Marie Claire this morning, while waiting for an appointment, was flicking through and saw a big picture of you, unfortunately I didnt have time to read most of it, it was you and your friend swopping drinking routines, very nice picture!)

I think your move overseas will be easy because you have a great job and boyfriend to go to. I really hope you keep this blog alive from there!

Chantal - oh yes, me and Miss Dove :)
Our first collaborative writing gig, which I think she had more fun doing since she had to drink and I wasn't allowed to ;)

Thanks so much for the encouragement! I am super excited. I think the move will also be easier because I know where I'm going and know the city rather well now. Here's hoping it all works out :)

Will definitely keep this going, I have to record my new chapter somewhere right? ;)

Mind if I do a bit of sub-editing? "...We’ve done Mexico, Meribel, Paris, Rome, London, Ireland and a bit of South Africa and each other..."

Does it sound stalkery if I mention that I know of a nice flat going in Putney? Good luck with the move, and enjoy. London is AWESOME. Fact. Although ask me again tomorrow when David Cameron's in...
