At the attempt to rise to the bait (and what better way to do it, on a boring Frday afternoon, where I’d rather be drinking in a pub). I remembered I had an Ikey fleece in my car. Since I'm at the office, and I don't carry my degree on me, this will have to do for now.
Of course, I could’ve stolen it from the UCT shop, or perhaps borrowed it from C, or maybe even faked the picture (gasp! No? She wouldn’t do that, would she?) But I thought, in the interim of pasting my degree up here on Monday morning, from the ever-rivalled University of Cape Town, I’d just put this up here for the moment instead.
All this talk of PE is making me quite homesick. Drunken evenings at Crowded House, where for fifty bucks you can drink all night, late night pie runs on Commercial Road, the memories of the swirling mists at my boarding school on the hill overlooking Pietermaritzburg…wait a minute…pardon me, I meant Port Elizabeth.
As for my fascinating career in tourism, born from the academic transgression of PE Technikon.
God I love being a tourguide. It’s fantastic. You get to explain the historical relevance of places like the Radium Beer Hall to the Jolly Roger, and sometimes the dude at the wheel of the tourbus even lets me drive! How exciting is that! I get to wear a name badge as well. And that’s just my day job!
'Cos at night, for extra shits and giggles, I find myself as deputy editor for a food and beverage magazine.
That said, PE isn’t far from Rhodes is it? It’s all Eastern Cape to me anyway, but you Rhodes boys are very welcome to come and visit me in my house in Forrest Hill, with my white picket fence and 2,5 dogs. I’ll give you a tour of the city. Because that’s what I do best. Tourism rocks.
(You know, on that note, there’s a res at UCT called Forrest Hill. No. Way.)
Happy, happy weekends everyone!

Cool, what time does the bus leave?
huh. I went to Rhodes. I had friends at UCT, Wits and Stellies and even a couple at UPE and PE Tech. Why all the animosity, everyone?
This is a bit like the Michaelhouse / Hilton / Bishops debate. The arguments are so bitter because the stakes are so small.
Rev - 2:00pm sharp. And you get a free lunch pack as well.
Duke - yes it is all a little ridiculous.
Fight fight fight fight fight!
;)
Shorty - you don't have to pay me my dear. Tell you what, you can donate it to PE Tech for all their troubles. I was a horrendous student. ;)
Hey Peas,
Me thinks me computer has a slow Friday, I left my comment as Anonymous Anon 2 on your previous post before I realized I missed like 40 comments with something to do with UTC… and therefore I want to clear something up… I am not that Anonymous who thinks you are from PE.
As for the real Anon 1 & 2, I think he/she is the one who needs to get some action because they are analyzing you WAY to much.
Have a great weekend,
Wow, missed a good blogging session there in the morning! Can you make it a topless (Whale) tourbus, and we hold the down downs there?
And wonderful to know Maties are your..well...mates! As long as you bring a bottle of Tassies or Klippies to the table, we'll love you not matter...!
Tsk, Tsk, Tsk... What anger... PE girls rock Peas.. I am from PE too and I think you should be cool with it as well... I lived in Summerstrand though so didn't really hang with the girls from Forest Hill... I msut say that I preferred Rhodes boys to UCT boys though.. Much sexier... Mmm ;)
God this is fantastic! I had to leave the building to go and laugh uproariously outside!
Somali - hey! thanks dude. You have a great weekend too!
Champs - I'm chilling the Tassies as we speak. Us Western Capers have to syick together you know. :)
Anon - Yeah....those Rhodes boys really know how to charm the ladies! So how is my hometown of PE doing today?
You're a riot. :)
Just checked the top out that UCT people wear... Powder blue? Do guys where that too? Well you know what the say about Fake Town boyz...
Shorty - PE Tech just couldn't handle me dollface. They shipped me off to UCT instead.
:)
Anon - I happen to know a Rhodes boy whose favourite colour is powder blue. Just saying.
See you at the Colony on Saturday! Be sure to properly introduce yourself. You know who I am, so all you have to do is walk up to me, see. :)
Shorty. Yeah, PE Tech is for old academic farts that just can't handle creative types. ;)
Just kidding. I wouldn't know - I never went there!
Good times! :)
Hey! What's with all the PE bashing? PE is a nice place, and I studied at PETech... Having lived in both PMB and CT and now based in JHB, I have to say PE ROCKS!! Can't wait to go back home...
Just ignore the little wanker, he obviously hasn't been laid in a while...
