No man to maybe man

All I can really do right now is wait and see whether they make changes to the Highly Skilled visa.

That may happen in April.

I can’t sit around anymore waiting, in this depressed cocoon of hell, so instead I’m doing this:

Getting rid of all my stuff.

Why?

1) If they make the changes, I want to be able to move quickly. All this shit is weighing me down. If I haven’t worn it/looked at it/used it for 6 months, it’s going.
2) It’s working towards the move. It’s pre-empting the universe will help me sort this all out.
3) It’s therapeutic. Spring cleaning and throwing out material possessions will make me feel better.
4) It’s streamlining my life.

I can’t live like I’ve been living lately, and I think if I organise everything around me, that’s a start.

Scrubbed my house from top to bottom. Maybe it’s the Mr Muscle fumes, or maybe it’s just turning my house into a clinic, I don’t know, but it’s better than lying on my couch feeling sorry for myself while reading books on how to live in London.

I got rid of - wait for it – fifty pairs of shoes yesterday.
My mum’s delivering them to charity for me. They are shoes in my spare cupboard that I haven’t used in ages. I might’ve had a shoe addiction problem, yes, definitely, but now with only 25 pairs left, now I’m almost normal.

The rest I’m leaving to fate (if there’s such a thing), to fall into place.

Peas, what exactly is the deal with your ancestral visa? Your grandparents are from the UK, but you don't have all the supporting documentation?

So you gonna try and auction the piano?

James - well it's a no go. Although my gran was British, went to school there etc etc, she was born in a Royal Navy ship in Malta.

I know.

Ridiculous.

And even though her father was in the Navy, and she was British by default, they won't accept that. Was a longshot. Have all the documents, and more :(

Rev - if it gets me a visa, you can have it for free. Shipping included.

Cassey - Thanks. :) I know, it's crazy isn't it? A collection from all the way back to 1998. It was time to turf those bad boys out, seriously.

Peas, if I were you I'd get packing as soon as possible. Don't mean to scare you but as a fellow Saffa in London on HSMP, I'm looking to renew my visa BEFORE April. Word is they will be making it tighter and with the rumblings going on around here I can believe it. My advice- do it as soon as possible.. before April. All the best and good luck. Hey maybe once you're this side you can thank me..a drink on you? : )

Hey Coco
Thanks for the advice :) Problem is, HSMP doesn't exist anymore, it's Tier 1. And as Tier 1 stands until April, you need a Master's Degree to apply. So until they implement the changes I can't really apply for anything :( :(

Getting all my paperwork ready though and selling off my stuff so that when April comes, I'm ready to rock 'n roll.

Hope you didn't sell/donate the awesome purple pumps we once chatted about that I would kill for? :(
