gender reveal

Frills, florals and pink could mean one of two things.

1) IT's a GIRL
2) IT's a boy [who we think might want to embrace his feminine side]

No, 'tis true, we are indeed having a little girl. We can still hardly believe it ourselves; it's like we've been given a second chance.

We were told yesterday, and for the first time in that scan room, we cried tears and tears of joy. I woke up this morning with a heart full of joy, something I haven't felt in a very long time.
We are so lucky, surely? To be able to have the opportunity to raise a little boy and a little girl. The excitement is unfathomable.

I'm especially happy for the Brit. While I would've been ecstatic to have another boy, and eventually he would've been completely happy with that too, he is just over the moon that we are having a girl. She is going to be the ultimate Daddy's girl - he is going to just melt, and wrap him around her little fingers: I can see the future as clear as day.

I couldn't help but cry all afternoon, if I'm honest. It felt like a wave of emotion just swept over me, pulled a plug somewhere and I just couldn't stop. I thought about Molly a lot yesterday, and it made me super emoshe. Like, has she had a part in this? Does she know? Most importantly, does she know she will never be replaced? Is she happy for us? I'd like to think she is. Smiling down from somewhere, happy in our happiness, and knowing that she still will never be forgotten.

After we found out, we ran into the first baby boutique we could find outside of Chelsea & Westminster and bought the beautiful pale pink velvet sleepsuit and floral dress in a flurry of frenzied excitement. To make it feel real. It still hasn't quite hit home.

Dressing a boy has been loads more fun than I ever anticipated, I really do care more about Sebastian's wardrobe these days than mine. But a girl. Suddenly the possibilities are endless, and woe betide my credit card. You get three to four times more girl clothes in any shop than the boys section. There are dresses. And bloomers. And tights. And hair clips. And little crdigans with ribbons on them. Plus you can still dress them like tomboys if you want - and she will wear lots of Sebastian's old clothes. Dungarees with a little pink shirt, or his blue shirts with floral leggings.

SQUEEEEEEEEEE. Lord help us.

New adventures ahead, and we can't wait.

PS: Here she is....
